What is it about?

Isolations tells a new story in the Death Stranding world, not a retelling of either game. Reports say it centres on a young girl who has lost her mother, which the teaser's tagline makes painfully clear. The poster shows her in a sci-fi suit beside a futuristic motorbike and a small robot companion, at the edge of a huge crater.

Hideo Kojima is executive producer rather than writer, and the series is directed by Takayuki Sano. Character designs come from Ilya Kuvshinov, the artist known for his striking anime portraits and his work on Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045.

How it was announced

Kojima revealed the series at the Disney+ Originals Preview in Hong Kong in November 2025, and the teaser followed at Kojima Productions' 10th-anniversary event.

Why it's a big deal

Death Stranding's lonely, strange world of couriers, craters and BTs has always felt made for anime, and a hand-drawn series gives it room to tell smaller, more personal stories than the games. It also arrives as Death Stranding keeps growing: Death Stranding 2 came out on PS5 in 2025, and a live-action film is in development separately.
