Updated October 30, 2026. We'll keep this page updated as Black Friday deals are announced.

Black Friday 2026 is on November 27, and if you're planning to buy a console this year, it pays to know the real prices first: PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo all raised their prices in 2026. Here's what each console costs today, what's confirmed for Black Friday so far, and how to tell a real deal from a fake one.

Console prices right now (US list prices)

  • Nintendo Switch 2: $499.99, up from $449.99 since September 1, 2026, according to Nintendo.
  • PS5 (with disc drive): $649.99, up from $549.99 since April 2, 2026.
  • PS5 Digital Edition: $599.99, up $100.
  • PS5 Pro: $899.99, up $150.
  • Xbox Series X (disc): $799.99, up from $649.99 since August 1, 2026.
  • Xbox Series X Digital: $749.99, up $150.
  • Xbox Series S (512GB): $499.99, up from $399.99.

Sony and Microsoft both pointed to rising memory and storage chip costs, and Nintendo cited changing market conditions. Retailers sometimes sell below these list prices, so always compare.

What's confirmed for Black Friday so far

As of October 30, Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo haven't announced any official Black Friday console prices. With list prices only going up this year, be realistic: a console "deal" is more likely to be a bundle (console plus a game) or a store gift card than a big price cut.

  • Switch 2: the best value right now is the Mario Kart World bundle, around $549.99, which costs less than buying the console and game separately.
  • PS5 and GTA 6: GTA 6 launches on November 19, a week before Black Friday. There's still no official GTA 6 PS5 bundle. Sony's launch products are two limited-edition GTA 6 DualSense controllers at $84.99. Details in our GTA 6 PS5 bundle article.
  • Xbox: no Black Friday console deal has been announced. If you're waiting for the next Xbox, read about its reported price first.

How to spot a real deal

  • Compare with the list price above. A "$50 off" sticker on a price that was raised $150 this year isn't much of a deal.
  • Check what's in the box. Bundles with a game you'd buy anyway are the real savings. Bundles with old games or accessories you don't need are not.
  • Watch for scams. Fake "clearance" console sites and social media ads appear every November. Buy from stores you know.
  • Accessories get the biggest discounts. Controllers, storage and headsets usually drop more than consoles do.

Don't forget storage

New games are huge: GTA 6 is reportedly about 210GB on PS5. If you're buying a console for GTA 6, plan for extra space. A 2TB M.2 SSD with a heatsink fits inside the PS5, Xbox owners need an official storage expansion card, and the Switch 2 uses microSD Express cards. More in our GTA 6 storage guide.

My take

This is the most expensive console year in a long time, so don't expect miracles on November 27. If you want a Switch 2, the Mario Kart bundle is already the best value. If you want a PS5 for GTA 6, buy the console when you see a bundle or gift card offer from a store you trust, and spend the savings on storage. And if you're happy with what you have, Black Friday is a great time to grab a second controller or a bigger SSD instead. Which console are you buying this year?
