Khazalite Holds just got two new Regiments of Renown, revealed on Warhammer Community on November 5 ahead of the new battletome. They let other Order armies take a slice of the duardin: a pack of mercenary Fyreslayers that strikes from the board edge, and a sturdy gunline led by a Runewright. Here's what each one does, in plain English, and which armies will want them.

The story

Fjori is the last survivor of Guzanhold, a magmahold that fell. He has gathered a band of mercenary Fyreslayers, and they want one thing: revenge on whoever destroyed his home. In the lore, Grimhold Exiles are loners who go where they please and leave bodies behind.

How it works

Fjori is a Grimhold Exile, a brutal close-combat fighter whose fyre-rune hammers hit even harder on the charge. Normally, once per battle in the deployment phase, he can vanish and reappear near a board edge, well away from the enemy.

The new regiment rule, Itinerant Grimmdron, lets him bring his whole gang with him. When he jumps, the rest of the regiment can jump too, landing close to him near the same board edge, and one unit picks up a grudge mark.

Why you'd take it

Suddenly having a pack of angry Fyreslayers on your opponent's flank is very hard to ignore, especially with hammers threatening big damage on the charge. Games Workshop suggests pairing them with fast armies like Kharadron Overlords airships or speedy aelf cavalry, which can work the same flank. See Fyreslayer warriors on Amazon.

The story

Thengin is a Runewright, and his kin are always ready to settle a score. This regiment brings real duardin rune magic and discipline to any Order army.

What's in it

  • The Runewright himself
  • 10 Clanshields
  • 10 Clangunners
  • An Oathkeeper Cannon

That's a big force compared to most Regiments of Renown.

How it works

  • Rune of Stoicism (a spell): the Runewright casts it in your hero phase, and nearby units in the regiment get a 6+ ward until your next turn. It makes them stick around longer.
  • Grudgesettlers (passive): every unit in the regiment starts the battle with a grudge mark, which gives them a strong punch early in the game. When a unit destroys an enemy, it loses its mark, because the grudge is settled.

Why you'd take it

It's a solid, self-contained block: a wall of shields, a line of guns and a cannon, all a little tougher thanks to the ward. Good for any Order army that needs to hold an objective or wants more shooting. See Khazalite Clanshields on Amazon.

Which one should you pick?

Pick Fjori's Vengeance if your army is fast and you want something scary to drop on a flank and pull the enemy apart.

Pick Thengin's Grudgesettlers if you need staying power and firepower in the middle of the table.
