Trying to get Monad working in MetaMask? The good news is that you probably don't need to type in any network settings. MetaMask now lists Monad as a supported network. I'll show you the quick way on a phone or computer, and what to do if it doesn't appear.
First, check if Monad is already there
Open MetaMask and look at the network list. On newer versions, Monad may already be available under supported or additional networks. If you see it, select or enable it. There's no reason to create a duplicate custom network.
MetaMask's own network help page now includes Monad among the supported networks. The screens can look a little different depending on your app version.
How to add Monad in MetaMask on a phone
- Open the official MetaMask app and unlock your wallet.
- Go to the Tokens tab and tap the network selector at the top.
- Scroll to Additional networks, or search for Monad.
- Tap the + beside Monad and confirm that you want to add it.
- Return to your wallet and check that Monad is available in your network list.
That's it if you see Monad in the list. You don't have to connect your wallet to a random website just to add the network.
How to add Monad in the MetaMask browser extension
- Open the MetaMask extension on your computer.
- Open the menu and select Networks.
- Search for Monad or look under Additional networks.
- Choose Add and confirm.
If MetaMask already shows Monad among your available networks, you can simply enable or select it. MetaMask may display assets from more than one enabled network at once, so your screen might not look exactly like older tutorials.
Manual setup, if you can't find Monad
If the built-in option is missing, MetaMask lets you add a custom network. On mobile, open the network selector, go to the Custom tab and choose Add a custom network. In the extension, open Networks and choose Add a custom network.
Here are the Monad mainnet details. Please compare them with the official Monad documentation before saving, especially if you're following this guide much later.
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Network name | Monad Mainnet |
| RPC URL | https://rpc.monad.xyz |
| Chain ID | 143 |
| Currency symbol | MON |
| Block explorer | https://monadscan.com |
Save the network. If the RPC URL is unavailable, don't grab a substitute from a stranger in your messages. Check the latest RPC providers listed in the official Monad docs.
Why is my MON balance still zero?
Adding Monad doesn't give you MON. It only lets MetaMask interact with that blockchain. You still need to obtain MON separately if you want to pay network fees or use an app that requires it.
Also, don't confuse Monad mainnet with Monad testnet. They are different networks. A token shown on one doesn't automatically exist on the other.
Why can't I see a token I own?
Adding the network and displaying a specific token are two separate things. Some tokens need to be imported by their contract address before they appear in your wallet. Verify that address from the project's official source; a name or logo alone isn't enough.
If you're here because of WIZY, my step-by-step WIZY guide explains that process and the token's official contract. Our website also has an Add to MetaMask option for WIZY. That adds the token; it's not a shortcut for sending funds between networks.
Three mistakes I would avoid
- Entering your secret recovery phrase on a website. You never need to share it to add Monad. Anyone asking for it is a serious warning sign.
- Sending tokens over the wrong network. Before you withdraw from an exchange or move funds, make sure the sending and receiving networks are actually supported. Choosing the wrong one can be expensive or irreversible.
- Trusting a random RPC or token address. Use MetaMask's built-in networks first and check manual details with official documentation.
One last thing
Adding Monad to MetaMask should be a small setup task, not an adventure. Start with the built-in option, verify the network if you have to add it manually, and don't rush when real money is involved.
I run WIZY, a small independent project on Monad, and I remember how confusing wallet setup can be when you're new. That's why I wanted this guide to cover the boring, practical stuff first.
For more background, I've also written a plain-English introduction to Monad and MON.
