WIZY has made its first book for tabletop wargamers: Crusade Journal: Narrative Campaign Logbook for Grimdark Sci-Fi Miniature Wargames. It's a 354-page fill-in paperback for players who run narrative "Crusade"-style campaigns, where your army gains experience, honours and scars from game to game. Here's what's inside and why we made it.

Why a campaign journal?

Anyone who has played a long narrative campaign knows the problem: the army roster lives in an app, the battle results are on a scrap of paper, and by game six nobody remembers who earned which battle honour. I collect and play Ultramarines myself, and I wanted one book that keeps the whole story of a campaign together, written by hand, the old-school way.

What's inside

  • 8 complete campaigns, each opening with an original ink illustration.
  • Army sheet and order of battle for supply limit, requisition points, your warlord and campaign tally.
  • Campaign log and 12 battle logs per campaign: opponent, mission, result, experience, agendas and a short battle report.
  • A warlord record and 30 unit records per campaign: profile, wargear, an experience track, rank, battle honours and battle scars.
  • A campaign tracker for alliances, phases and strategic points, plus a dot-grid campaign map and notes.
  • Spare unit records and battle logs at the back.

A gift for wargamers

My take

This one is personal: it's the journal I wanted for my own campaigns. If you run narrative campaigns with your group, I'd love to hear how you track them today. Paper, app, or a messy mix of both?
