After years of waiting and several delays, Witchbrook finally has a real release date: January 28, 2027. Chucklefish revealed it during Nintendo's Indie World showcase on October 28, along with a new trailer, a price, Xbox Game Pass on day one, and a surprise PS5 version. Here's everything we know.

  • Platforms: PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox, and now PS5 too.
  • Price: $24.99.

What is Witchbrook?

Witchbrook is a cozy life sim about becoming a witch. You live in the seaside town of Mossport, go to classes, learn magic, make friends, and run your own little witch business, including selling at a Sunday market. If you like games such as Stardew Valley, this is the one cozy gamers have been watching for years.

A long road to release

Witchbrook has been in development for a long time. It was first shown years ago, then pencilled in for winter 2025, then pushed to 2026, and now it finally has a fixed date in early 2027. After so many delays, a specific day on the calendar is the news fans have been waiting for.

Why the PS5 version matters

Until now, PlayStation players weren't on the list. Adding PS5 means everyone can play on launch day, and with online co-op, more friends can play together no matter which console they own.

My take

January is a smart spot: after the big holiday releases (and after GTA 6 in November), a cozy game has room to breathe. $24.99 with day-one Game Pass is a great deal too. The only question now is whether it can live up to years of hype. Are you picking it up on day one, or waiting for reviews?
