Pokémon UNITE is shutting down. On October 26 (October 27 in Japan), The Pokémon Company announced that its free-to-play MOBA will end service on March 23, 2027, on both Nintendo Switch and mobile. Gem sales have already stopped. Here's everything you need to know: the dates, what happens to your purchases, and how to keep your records.
Last updated October 27, 2026.

The key dates
- October 26–27, 2026: the end of service was announced. Aeos gem sales stopped, and new UNITE Club memberships and automatic renewals were switched off.
- November 12, 2026: a free farewell update and special event begins. You can earn Unite Coins to exchange for Unite Licenses, Holowear, fashion items, stickers and more.
- March 20–21, 2027: the Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo finals still go ahead, with a $1 million prize pool.
- March 23, 2027, 00:00 UTC: service ends. That's the evening of March 22 in North America.

What happens to your gems and purchases
- Aeos gems you already have can still be used until the game shuts down. You just can't buy more.
- UNITE Club members keep their benefits until the end of their current membership period.
- Refunds: I haven't seen a clear refund policy in the official notice coverage yet. Check the official announcement for your region, and I'll update this article if one is confirmed.
Keep your records: the Library feature
After March 23 you won't be able to log in or play. But the farewell update adds a Library that lets you look back at your records and in-game content afterwards. There's a catch: you have to download the Library data before March 23, 2027. If you don't, you lose access to it.
A short life for a big Pokémon game
Pokémon UNITE launched on Nintendo Switch on July 21, 2021 and on iOS and Android on September 22, 2021. It was developed by Tencent's TiMi Studio Group and published by The Pokémon Company. It will have run for about five and a half years, and it even became an official esports medal event at the 2026 Asian Games, according to Inven Global.
The signs were there, though. Earlier this year UNITE was removed from the 2027 Pokémon World Championships and moved to its own standalone tournament instead, and it had already ended service in Belgium and the Netherlands in 2025.
My take
This one stings for a lot of players. UNITE was many people's first MOBA, and it was a rare Pokémon game you could play with friends on your phone for free. Ending gem sales on the same day as the announcement is the right call, but it's a shame there's no offline mode, just a records library. If you've got gems left, spend them before March. Did you play UNITE, and who was your main?
