Philips has announced what it calls the world's first 36-inch, 260Hz gaming monitor: the Philips Evnia 36M4C5500P. It's a curved ultrawide aimed at fast games. Here are the specs, what the "260Hz" really means, and when you can buy it.

The specs
- Size and shape: 36-inch curved ultrawide, 1500R curve.
- Panel: Fast VA.
- Resolution: 3440 x 1440.
- Refresh rate: 240Hz natively, with an optional overclock mode up to 260Hz.
- Announced: October 22, 2026.
About that 260Hz
Headlines say "260Hz", but the monitor's normal refresh rate is 240Hz; 260Hz is an overclock mode you turn on. In real games the difference between 240 and 260Hz is small, and you'd need a powerful graphics card to reach those frame rates at 3440 x 1440 anyway. The bigger news is the size: most ultrawides are 34 inches, so 36 inches at this speed is new.
Price and availability
Philips hasn't announced a price yet. It will launch first in the Asia-Pacific region through selected retailers, and Philips hasn't confirmed dates for North America or Europe. We'll update this article when it does.
My take
A 36-inch ultrawide is a nice middle ground between the usual 34-inch screens and huge 45-inch ones. The price will decide everything, and until it reaches North America it's more of a sign of where monitors are heading. Ultrawide or regular 16:9, what do you game on?
