The Tomb Kings are marching again. Games Workshop's new Host of Nehekhara box for Warhammer: The Old World is up for pre-order: 78 skeleton models in one box, and reviewers are already calling it one of the best-value boxes in years. Here's what's inside, what it costs, when it ships, and whether it's worth it.

What's in the box

The Host of Nehekhara Army Reinforcement Set contains 78 models:

  • 36 Skeleton Warriors
  • 36 Skeleton Archers
  • 6 Skeleton Chariots

Every unit comes with a champion, a musician and a standard bearer, so they're ready to field as full regiments. According to Warhammer Community, these are the first new plastic Skeleton Warriors, Archers and Chariots made for Warhammer: The Old World.

Pre-order date, release date and price

  • Pre-orders: opened on Saturday, October 24, 2026, for two weeks.
  • Release: November 7, 2026.
  • Price: £140 in the UK and €140 in Europe, according to Tale of Painters. US prices are reported differently by different sites, between about $180 and $227.50, so check the official Warhammer store for your country. Many independent stores sell it with a discount.
  • Limited: it's only available while stocks last.

The new Tomb Kings dice and reference cards are sold separately.

Is it good value?

Yes, and by a lot. Spikey Bits estimates that buying the same kits separately would cost about $376, a saving of around $148. Sprues & Brews comes to a similar result in the UK: around £228 of kits for a £140 box. Tale of Painters called it the "best value box in years."

Sprues & Brews also points out that the box covers pretty much your entire minimum core requirement for a Tomb Kings army. That's exactly what a big "starter army" box should do.

What's missing

It's all rank-and-file: there's no new hero and no big monster in the box. You'll still need a Tomb King or a Liche Priest to lead the army, plus whatever constructs and monsters you like.

New to Tomb Kings? Reviewers suggest reading the Barrow Kingdoms rules in the new River of Bones Arcane Journal before committing to 78 models, so you know how you want to build your army. River of Bones follows Settra the Imperishable's forces into the forest of Athel Loren after they ravage the Border Princes.

My take

This is how army boxes should be. Instead of one flashy character and a handful of troops, you get a real army core: two big regiments and six chariots, at a price that saves you a lot compared to buying the kits one by one. If you've ever wanted to start the Tomb Kings, this is probably the best moment you'll get. Just know that painting 72 skeletons is a commitment. Good thing bone is one of the easiest colours to paint.
